Tiburon Golf & Country Club
Within the beautiful community of Tiburon, there exists Tiburon Golf & Country Club…a distinguished gated golf resort offering upscale unique luxury residences and featuring Tiburon Golf Club at the Ritz Carlton Golf Resort. The Gold Course and The Black Course are two unique 18-hole par-72 Greg Norman designed courses.
However, championship golf is only the beginning of this stunning Tiburon golf and resort community. Residents enjoy an accommodating Mediterranean-style 27,000 square foot clubhouse, offering gourmet and casual dining at Sydney’s Restaurant and Sydney’s Pub, an award winning golf and tennis pro shop, member locker rooms, and a state-of-the-art fitness center that includes weight training equipment, personal training instructors for Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, and even the Rick Smith Golf Academy.
In 2006, the club was the first to use custom Segway golf carts. The golf club is part of a gated WCI Gated Communities golf community. Tiburon Golf Club is also home to the TOUR Academy Tiburon, which features private lessons, multi-day golf schools, junior camps, and club-fitting.
The Gold Course opened in 1998, with more coquina shell-lined waste bunkers than the Black Course. Yet, there is also more room to drive the ball and greater opportunity to run the ball up on the greens than on the other course. The extensive bunkers are hard to avoid, especially since there are almost 50 of these bunkers placed strategically throughout the entire course. Of course, water hazards with the fresh water lakes and ponds also come into play on many of the holes.
Both Tiburon courses are similar in design and beauty but the Gold Course is slightly less challenging. However, neither course is for the weak of heart. The Gold Course still offers a good test of your golfing skills and hosts the annual PGA Franklin Templeton Shootout, originally the “Shark Shootout,” an off-season golf event hosted by Greg Norman that includes members of the PGA Tour and Champions Tour. This tournament made its debut in California in 1989 and then moved to Tiburon in 2001. Since 2013, the Gold Course has also hosted the season-ending event of the LPGA Tour, the CME Group Tour Championship, held during the month of November.
The Black Course opened in 2001, and is Tiburon’s original layout which is slightly more challenging than the Gold. It features a combination of stacked sod wall bunkers and coquina waste bunkers. Water hazards with the fresh water lakes and ponds, and the towering pine trees come into play frequently as well.
Lastly, Tiburon’s Black Course finishes with a tricky par 5. This dogleg-right hole features not only an enormous fresh water lake that runs the entire length of the right side but also coquina waste areas and greenside bunkers. If you can manage to shoot a birdie on this hole, you are definitely ready for the pros!
Additional amenities at Tiburon Golf Club include full spa services with two massage rooms, a crystal blue heated resort styled swimming pool, four lighted Har-Tru tennis courts with a professionally trained USTA staff, luxury beach transport and Member Concierge services are located next to the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort. Tiburon is also known for the phenomenal Naples Winter Wine Festival.
